Joe the Plumbers Numbers...

Posted on Oct 16th, 2008 by Ramblin'H2O : Interaction Visionary Ramblin'H2O
26 times last night Joe the Plumber entered my living-room, so I decided to find out something about this plumber that makes so much money(280k). Turns out he doesn't; that the figure is an estimate of what he might make if he buys the business. By the way, that might mean a business loan to pay off for the first few years(15 usually), if he can get a bank to loan him money, which would bring his gross down below that figure. I have owned a business for years and never come close to this number but it is a different type of business and having had major plumbing work in the last year, I know they charge more then I do per hour. So - Good for Joe, (which isn't his first name by the way, it is Samuel) Way to make it in this world, but guess what? You are not middle class if that is the case. My combined household income which includes my total Business income is well under 100K a year but over the poverty level.

I found some help with the numbers, as I pay an accountant to do mine, another way to keep your business in a lower tax bracket (you might want to think about a good accountant Joe) here they are:

So here's Joe's deal. He says he might make as much as $280,000 a year on his business. By the way, very nice. I don't know if that's "rich," but it's a whole lot better than most of us are doing these days. So under Obama's plan he would pay an extra 3% on the last $30,000, or $900. He's making over $250,000 a year, we're running huge deficits, but he's troubled by paying an extra $900. And we're supposed to be worried about this guy? He can't really be serious that this extra $900 in taxes breaks the deal for him, could he? 'Oh darn, I could have made $280,00 a year, but I'm going to pass because I will have to pay an extra $900 in taxes.' Puh-lease.

Further, as I understand Obama's plan, Joe would pay less on the first $250,000, meaning his actual net tax might well be lower than it is now. Plus he might get a tax credit for adding jobs. Not to mention McCain now says he is going to balance the budget, which absolutely will require more taxes. Joe doesn't seem to know on which side his pipe is greased.

Read the whole Blog here

Is it possible that Joe was a republican plant? He seems to be well versed in all of the GOP talking points in all of his interviews today. That ego of his is also soaking in the spot light. Have fun with your 15 minutes Joe.

More Thoughts on Joe and McCain

Posted on Oct 17th, 2008 by Ramblin'H2O : Interaction Visionary Ramblin'H2O
What does Joe the Plumber say about John McCains ability to do the job he still continues to covet?
"I was just really surprised that my name was mentioned," he told reporters after the debate.  REALLY?
Now we know that the McCain campaign must have asked Sam Wurzelbacher because Wurzelbacher told reporters Thursday that 'the McCain campaign contacted him earlier in the week to ask him to appear with the candidate at a Toledo rally scheduled for Sunday.' Don't you think they may have told him he would be mentioned? Maybe that they wanted him to be the 'Joe Sixpack' poster boy. JM used him as the centerpiece of the debate to put the whole Joe Sixpack mentality against the issues regarding Obama's tax platform. Fear mongering again!

Why then did they not vet him? I think this is showing a trend, they didn't seem to vet Sarah very well, if at all, they admitted they did not do any vetting of Joe the Plumber. What does this say about JM? - if he is really the maverick in charge, he must have nothing but 'yes men' all around him to not question these choices. Maybe like JM none of his staff or advisers knows how to Goggle either.

I want someone smarter then me running my country-that is what I look for in a candidate I vote for. Intelligence and the ability to come at issues through a second tier thought process. Someone who can look at ALL sides of an issue and reason out the best possible solution for the whole in the long run, thus hopefully stabilizing the road toward the future. 8 years ago, I liked a lot of what JM had to offer, now I question his stability, not only of mind but of body - yes, I went there, that codger is OLD. Sorry, but he is starting to sound and act  like the old man who screams 'get off my lawn!' as the neighborhood kids run by. Wondering around at the second debate like your alzheimer uncle at the family picnic, or someone who was afraid to set down as they may have troubles trying to get back up.

It took me a few clicks and obviously the reporters a few more to find out that Joe the Plumber isn't even a licensed plumber - that means he is not working legally or ethical in the city of Toledo and around it, I think his employer is now in trouble - yes that would be the same employer who Joe said he was going to buy the business from. So let's mention that he can not afford it and it was already nothing but a pipe dream.

Joe is in the rear for his Taxes = no wonder he didn't want to pay more...
In January, 2007, the Ohio Department of Taxation placed a lien against him because $1,183 in personal property taxes had not been paid, but there has been no action in the case since it was filed.
Now if you go to the Clerk of Courts site you will see it is not Property Taxes but Personal INCOME Taxes!  You know, if your in the rears with the IRS chances are you will not be buying a business anytime soon...

Voting: this man who is 34 only voted for the first time this year! Let us see that means he has sat out possibly 4 presidential elections in the past.
Local election officials confirmed that Wurzelbacher was registered to vote. They said that he was incorrectly registered as Samuel Joseph Worzelbacher and that he voted for the first time in Pennsylvania's Republican primary on March 4.
"There's a lot I've got to learn," Wurzelbacher said.  BOY! Now if that isn't the UNDERSTATEMENT of the week - and so does the McCain campaign.
