Please take a couple of seconds to respond to this poll.
PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. Apparently the Republicans knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes.
I know -- it's only a poll. But it will be reported on PBS, picked up by mainstream media and can influence undecided voters in swing states.
Please do two things -- takes 20 seconds.
1) Here is the link, click or paste it into your browser and vote yourself.
The last thing we need is PBS having to say our viewers think Sarah Palin is qualified.
This Palin for President! That I can go for!
I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....
FW: Now I understand
* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're
"exotic, different."
* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers: a quintessential American
story.
* If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids Willow, Trig, and Track: you're a maverick.
* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating: you're well
grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the
first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter
registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years
as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator
representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of
the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years
in the United States Senate represent ing a state of 13 million people
while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs,
Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you
don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl (sports caster), 4
years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with
fewer than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with
650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second
highest ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while
raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're
not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left
your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a
Christian.
* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including
the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of so ciety.
* If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with
no other option in sex education in your state's school system while
your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.
* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in
a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city
community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values
don't represent America's.
* If your husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DUI
conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote
until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the
secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.
OK, much clearer now.
Truth Busters
Sheeple it seems will believe anything that is given to them in a short sound bite (like a TV ad) and will never spend anytime to look to see if it is true or not. I could go into a whole diatribe about the lack of deductive reasoning in our country, but I will leave that until another time.
I do spend a lot of time listening to many sources, and yes, this does come from a PAC group... however it is worth watching as it shows how easily a phrase can be corrupted. Much like just how many times has JM has used the 'lipstick/pig' analogy? funny how that never created a controversy - must mean the controversy was created.

Do they really think I would give up what I believe in as a woman to vote for a woman?
The Pier to Nowhere
I had to laugh; Tri was upset, livid almost. Me? I just saw what I have seen humans do my whole life. Someone who even have a history of doing this type of thing. The laughter in me was like that after a good April Fools day joke, I fell for it. Congrats to that. But that is the gem of online relationships, and at times I can be a hopeless romantic and want to trust, want to believe. Alas.
Ego; it has a very nasty way of corrupting the mind and the soul of man. One or the other is bad enough but when both are hit the results are staggering. Something not going your way – wah – pull the plug! Something growing too big to handle??? Don’t reach out to friends – sell-out to a ‘conscious’ capitalist.
Mothers give birth and try to desperately hold onto that child through its life, creating a strangling death grip on the throat of creativity and growth. Insanity brews of malcontent. Perhaps a manic depressive plunge into the ocean of despair; a momentary break of the non-dual…that is all it takes to lose not only control but more importantly – respect. Most times, even with the best of guidance, the child doesn’t grow up the way mommy had envisioned for that baby. Sometimes that baby grows up and realizes that there is kaka filling its diapers and makes a choice - then throws it back at mom. But isn’t that all part of the checks and balances we need to keep us awake? Is that not the core of debate and vibrant discussion? We can not be above the debate, not everyone is going to agree with you every step of your life. Should you find those that do? Beware the ides of March my friend…
Projection is an interesting phenomenon… accusing others of doing what you are doing yourself. Let us take the example of blogging off site, shall we? Hun?
“Pot? This is Kettle…we need to talk.”
Just because you have a living room full of chosen family doesn’t mean that some are not going to have friends on the other side of the backyard fence. It is human nature after all. We all have friends of different ilk’s and business acquaintances and arrangements that must be upheld to bring those stupid little green credits rolling in. Leaders full of corruption, contempt and power have used projection as an effective tool for years. Just watch a few political ads for examples, they are everywhere these days. Best of all we have Condi telling Russia that it is not right to invade a sovereign nation and depose its government, and don’t they dare think of staying for any length of time! “Kettle? Is that you?”
As it is often the case when walking on piers; the walk is short and often ends in a drowning. I guess for now my blogging is back to being housed on solid ground. Too bad?-Perhaps?
Looking out over the sea of humanity
I think many of us are unhappy or apprehensive regarding this loss of Zaadz and the change over to Gaia. In fact I started writing this in my head about a month ago and went online to post two weeks ago and the site was down. More fuel to some peoples’ fire I am sure, amusements to others, and a chance for me to refine and tweak this Blog.
Loss is really what it is. Many of us joined the Zaadz community because we didn’t like the Penny Arcade of Myspace or the Meet Market of Facebook. Many of us are… well lets just say, have spent a few more years in these bodies on this plane then the average user of those other sites. Some are new to the net, some of us have been on computers since the 80’s.
I remember the first time I was introduced to the internet – it was just an intranet – even though I was well into the start of my adult life the overwhelming awe that overtook me was amazing. With all the wide eyed wonder of a 5 year old I could see the future. The absolutely amazing evolution of the cyber world is stunning and I am sure unequal in the last few billion years of life on this planet. In fact, I have often used the evolution of the computer to debunk those who refuse to even thing about Darwin’s treatise let alone read it.
The experience of “talking” to some one in Germany for the fist time over the net, it took 4 days over a very clumsy bulletin board but we did make contact. Comparing that to the amazing programming that is behind Zaadz –there I go again Gaia, makes my head spin. I think it was in ‘89 I was able to purchase my first ‘personal computer’ It was top of the line - I think it had 20MB, now I only have 58 gigs of free hard drive left and I am looking for things to ditch. The only constant is change.
Gaia = earth, home, one
Zaadz = seed
One of the critics of Zaadz/Gaia said it is a lot of “hippy drivel” I actually agree, I think that is one of the problems with our community – however with the growth and the movement into our growth from a seed community into that of a whole planet that is starting to change. Another critic mentioned something about unfair monitoring and people being kicked out because they didn’t play nice with others. I don’t know the situation that they were speaking of so I will not even guess or surmise. I have seen what I have felt might be looked at as a passive aggressive movement to shut down a pointed rant. ShawnMichelle – a fantastic writer I might add – made a very good point in his blog on tolerance. However, I believe he thought he was ‘preaching to the choir’ turns out not all of this communal choir has heard the same message. I have been messing around here for a year or so, and have never seen so many comments on a blog. Irate comments; People, in this community, taking things personally – wow; all I could do was laugh. What really got me though was ‘Eyes Only’ (might need to be a sci-fi buff for that reference) chirped in – basically telling everyone to ‘play nice now’. Why? sometimes you really need to slap people hard to wake them up. I see it here; I see it in my office everyday. We need to get past worrying about the fact that someone might take something we say personally – It is not my responsibility (or within my ability) to direct someone how to interpret and digest an idea. We all take things in through our own personal filters
For the most part I have left this site. I will continue to check in once and a while but if you really wish to find me. click here
TriGirls and My thoughts on Gaia
WHAT!!!?? You want me to PAY to not see ads, after big giant Gaiam took over Zaadz?! It's not going to happen. And, from the look of the email header, I've got to get out of here. You see, if I'd wanted to use capitalism (by my definition, the Culture of BUY MORE STUFF) to change the world, I would have been operating under that philosophy already. That's one of the very things I do NOT want to be supporting, the Culture of Consumption, whether as a supposedly mindful "choice" or just as conditioned cultural reflex.
We all have to eat. We all have to make money enough to get our basic needs met. But HELL if I'm going to support the System with my brains, ideas, and energy, when changing, shaking up, tearing down and permanently altering said System is what I'm interested in doing. I work within the System as a professional musician and bassoon teacher, warping young minds when I get the chance and always asking lots of questions, while NOT holding down a numbing day job that wastes my time and energy- our family is much better off with me not working at anything other than music outside our home. I stay plenty busy all day long, believe me. Our big family joke is that I'm spending my days eating bonbons with my feet up... each of us contributes to the good of the household in our own way, and for us, that means that my tasks as main cooker & cleaner save us bucks and make us all healthier because we're eating more home-cooked less processed food, and our cleaner home is more pleasant to be in. Meanwhile I'm also running an internationally-known bassoon camp (www.bassooncamp.com) and practicing my bassoon and viola, making reeds, writing music and words, refreshing my Arabic skills, teaching at UNC-C, and playing in several symphony orchestras. Capitalism? Feh. I'm a refugee from that System that systematically ignores art bums and free thinkers. I don't chase dollars, they come to me when it is time through my work, the work I am passionate about, the work that I must do because my heart and soul know it is my path. Conscious Capitalism? Yuck. So you're aware that you are part of an exploitative process... what does that say about your ethics, your karma, and your conscience? Catalyzing Conscious Capitalism? I thought we were going to change the world, not merely overlord it like the same squatter bosses have been doing for far too long. No thanks, I've Consciously Catalyzed my ass out of that particular game.
Zaadz appealed to me because I'm not a joiner. Zaadz let me speak my piece and meet others who wanted to do the same in order to grow their spirits, not their wallets. Zaadz left me feeling more hopeful that I might actually meet others that felt the same way about the necessity for immediate evolution and change, and together, we could begin to repair this mess we're living in. Gaia takes that hope, smashes it in the eye, and then hands it a teddy bear with a balloon and tells it, "Let's meditate to re-center." I want to build bridges, I want to find out how we can unite, I want to help us leave the Culture of Us vs. Them, I want to move forward. I want to tear up pavement and grow gardens. I want to throw wrenches in cogs. I want to stop the craziness of what passes for sane these days. Zaadz started out as that kind of a place, and it is that place no longer. I will be leaving soon for The Pier To Forever, and I'm not doing it to be a joiner.
Yours in Asskicking and Motion,
TriGirl
